About the Immigrant Story Walk

At the heart of the Immigrant Story Walk will be an immigration game, in which participants receive packets including their immigrant identity and other cards that lead them through a series of stations.

Participants may have to fold laundry or do other jobs to earn money. They could wind up in immigration detention. The final station will simulate the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services interview.

Those who survive and obtain citizenship will receive a certificate and American flag. Everyone will take home a souvenir passport.

This interactive exercise is a test of skills that gives you a small indication of the challenges immigrants undertake when working towards becoming an American citizen.
